Show Jumping

Jose Arguelles on Park Exchange II

In a one day Horse Trial, Show Jumping is usually the second section, but it may, as in a three day event such as Badminton or Burghley, be the final test. Scoring of this test differs from ordinary Show Jumping in that Horse Trial jumping rules penalise gross mistakes and disobedience much more severely than simple carelessness. Thus falls incur 30 penaties, one refusal 10 and a second refusal 20, whilst the knocking down of a fence incurs only 5.
